During 1964, Eskay started the manufacturing
of precipitated micronized grade of Barium sulphate B.P./U.S.P.
only the micronized grade of “Barium Sulphate’
can comply with the parameter of bulkiness /sedimentation
prescribed in B.P./ U.S.P.
It is a well known fact that coarse
particles of Barium Sulphate gives the best x-ray results.
Hence, U.S.P.26 & B.P.2010 has deleted the test for
bulkiness /sedimentation.
Hence, most of the microbar products
are manufactured by using coarse particles of Barium Sulphate
B.P./U.S.P.
1. Since barium sulphate is odourless
and tasteless, the demand of palatable formulation of
Barium sulphate was felt. “Eskay”
developed the required formulations and marketed
them in the brand name of microbar.
To encourage the marketing of new innovative products,
the “Indian Radiological and Imaging Association”
(I.R.I.A.) started the practice of awarding “certificate
of merit” during 1984.
“microbar – CAT2” is
a concentrated form of “microbar – CAT”.
2. Over the years , a number of microbar
formulations have been developed and marketed. “ESKAY”
is exporting “microbar “ products to more than
30 countries and exports are regularly increasing.
